1. Scope
This policy applies to everything you send through the service and to the way you access it. It forms part of the Terms and Conditions, and breaking it is a breach of that agreement.
We do not read the files you convert, so this policy is not enforced by inspection. It is enforced when a problem surfaces: a report, a legal demand, or a pattern in the metadata we do hold, such as an account pushing far more traffic than a person could.
2. Content you must not convert
You must not upload or convert a file where doing so would:
- Infringe someone else's copyright, trade mark or other rights, including converting media you have no licence to.
- Contain material that sexually exploits or endangers a child.
- Contain malware, or be crafted to exploit a weakness in a converter or in whoever opens the result.
- Break export control, sanctions or any other law that applies to you or to us.
- Contain personal data you have no lawful basis to process, including data obtained by a breach.
3. How you must not use the service
You must not:
- Try to gain access to another account, to our infrastructure, or to any part of the service not intended for you.
- Probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission, or run any form of denial of service attack against it.
- Work around the published limits on file size, batch size or rate, or run many accounts to get more free conversions than the allowance permits.
- Resell or expose the converters as your own service, or drive them from an automated client outside any API we have given you access to.
- Interfere with anyone else's use of the service.
4. Limits
The published limits on file size, on files per batch and on how long a result stays available are technical limits, not targets. Repeatedly working around them is a breach of this policy even where no single request exceeds them.
The current limits are published on the pricing page and answered in the FAQ.
5. What happens if you break this policy
Depending on what happened and how serious it is, we may refuse a conversion, throttle or suspend an account, close it, keep the material and the associated records where the law requires it, and report the matter to the authorities.
Where the breach is not serious and can be put right, we will normally contact you first. Where it involves child sexual abuse material, an active attack on the service, or a legal demand, we will not.
Suspension or closure under this policy does not entitle you to a refund of unused credits.
6. Reporting abuse
If you believe the service is being used to break this policy, write to us through the contact form with enough detail to identify what is happening. Reports about material that infringes your rights should say what the material is and what right you hold.
